True Blood Themed Party
| 5 imagesI’ll admit, I’m a complete Trubie. I absolutely love True Blood. I’ve read all the books and have watched every episode countless times. In honor of the season finale tomorrow, I thought I’d share this party I threw for my friend Kristen’s birthday. Her birthday happened to fall the same weekend as the season premiere a few months ago, and she’s just as obsessed as I am, so we decided to have a themed party (as you get to know me through this blog, you’ll realize that my friends and I never miss an opportunity to do something themed).
The decorations were really pretty simple. The cherry on top of it all was my discovery of this free True Blood font. I used my Silhouette SD digital die-cut machine to cut out most of the paper decor. Above are close-ups of the coffee table setting. I covered the table in a black table-cloth, and then placed vases with red and black colored water, dark red roses, candles and a pack of True Blood bottles. The tall white pillar candles were “bleeding candles” that I found at a local party store. The “TB” bands around the vases were made with the True Blood font, and my die-cut machine. I added a bit of a darker look by sponging them with a dark brown ink pad and a paper towel.
My favorite elements were the cake and the banner. The Talbot cake is a red-velvet cake, that I dyed even darker with some food coloring. Then I iced it with food-colored red icing, and blended up some cherries in my food processor and just went to town pouring them all over the cake. The banner was another creation using my die-cut machine and the True Blood font. The banner was made on poster paper, with die-cut letters and the same dark brown sponging technique I used on the vase bands. To add the blood drips, I simply used red paint.
Enjoy the rest of the photos… hope it inspired you for all those finale parties tomorrow! Cannot wait.
