DIY Cell Phone Holder

I found this amazing DIY project on Pinterest, which as you probably already know from earlier blogs, is my obsession. If you haven’t joined yet, you really should. My friend Kaley introduced me to it earlier last year, and since then, I’ve pinned a gazillion DIY projects, outfit ideas, beauty tips, art, home designs… you name it!

This particular project was pinned from the blog, Make it and Love it. The post features an ingenious way to recycle an old lotion bottle into a very handy cell phone holder that hooks over the plug in the wall – eliminating the need to store your phone on the floor, counter or shelf. It is such a simple solution to one of those silly small annoyances, and I have to say, I just LOVE it!  You can find the complete directions for the cell holder on her site. I followed them pretty closely, only with a few modifications of my own.

Instead of using scissors to cut out the lotion bottle, I used an exacto razor blade knife. It was much easier to handle and cut through the plastic like butter. I also decided to paint my holder – which required a general sanding of the whole bottle with a fine-grit sand paper. It took two coats to cover. Then I used some adhesive backed fabric to add some pops of color and wa-la! My handy cell holder was complete in an hour (including drying time between coats), and cost $2.00, if you don’t count the old lotion bottle.

Completed product: $2.00! Not counting the iPhone... =)
